Jeffry D. Madura Memorial Graphics Prize

Graphics play an essential role in the articles that are published in the Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling, maybe even more than in other research journals. After a pause of some years we have decided to reinstate the yearly best graphic prize for JMGM. To honor Jeffry D. Madura, a JMGM Editor and long serving COMP member and officer, who unexpectedly passed away in 2017, the award is now called the Jeffry D. Madura Memorial Graphics Prize. Please visit the Molecular Graphics and Modelling Society's Prizes page to see previous winners.

2018 Winner

Figure 5 published in: Multiscale molecular dynamics simulations of lipid interactions with P-glycoprotein in a complex membrane, by Laura Domicevica, Heidi Koldsø and Philip C. Biggin (JMGM, Vol. 80, 2018, pp. 147-156)

Description: Phospholipid headgroup spatial occupancy density maps for the upper (A) and lower (B) leaflet of the complex asymmetric bilayer with POPC (blue), POPE (purple), POPS (dark grey) and sphingomyelin (light grey) headgroup densities shown. (C) Representation of positive residues (lysines and arginines) in blue on the P-gp surface. Phospholipid headgroup regions are depicted as grey surfaces.
