Undergraduate Workshop
2023 COMP Workshop for Undergraduate Students
American Chemical Society National Meeting
Indianapolis, IN
March 26-30, 2023
The Computers in Chemistry Division will host a Workshop for Undergraduate Students in COMP at the Spring ACS meeting. The target audience is undergraduate students in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or other sciences majors doing research associated with any area of COMP. All students participating should present a poster in the COMP poster session at the ACS meeting.
This exciting workshop will include:
A series of introductory talks covering major areas of computational chemistry
Lightning talks by workshop participants highlighting their research to their peers
A career panel discussion featuring computational chemists from a variety of career paths
Poster awards for outstanding undergraduate posters presented in the COMP poster session
A free workshop on data visualization in python, offered in collaboration with the Molecular Sciences Software Institute.
In partnership with the Molecular Sciences Software Institute, we are offering a scientific data visualization workshop, virtually on zoom, the month before the conference (February 2022) for all workshop participants. In this workshop, students will learn to make graphs, charts, and other data visualizations using python. This will help students prepare compelling data visualizations for their poster presentations. More information about the workshop will be sent to workshop participants in early January 2022.
A limited number of registration awards are available for workshop participants. To apply for the registration award, students must supply their ACS membership number when they fill out the registration form below.
Registration instructions:
1) Submit your abstract to the COMP Poster Session (deadline 10/17/22). Be sure you submit your abstract to the COMP poster session and not the COMP section of the Undergraduate Poster session sponsored by CHED.
2) Sign up for the workshop online. To sign up you will need your ACS membership number and your MAPS abstract ID number (from submission of your COMP poster).
